Seal-Tite® International has developed a line of unique pressure
activated sealants that are designed to seal even high pressure
repair jobs such as wellhead and tubing hanger leaks; sustained
casing pressure and microannulus leaks; salt dome storage cavern
leaks; subsea connection and umbilical leaks; safety valve,
production tubing and packer leaks; and flowline leaks in wells and
hydraulic systems. The sealants are unique in that a pressure drop
through the leak site causes the sealant fluids to polymerize into
a flexible solid bond. Only at this point of differential pressure
will the sealant polymerization process occur. As the reaction
proceeds, the polymerized sealant plates out on the edges of the
leak site and simultaneously links across to seal the leak. The
resulting seal is a flexible bond across the leak site. The
remainder of the sealant remains liquid and will not clog
equipment.
